About Us

Pretty Good Girl Dance Theatre Aim to:

  • Create work that is highly professional and innovative
  • Offer Somerset based artists the opportunity to get involved in a dynamic creative process.
  • Offer the wider community opportunity to experience dance and theatre practically or as audience.
  • Strive to create work that is accessible but also fresh and technically challenged.
  • To develop strong links with the local community.
  • To represent the West Country on a national level - as a region that supports and nurtures accomplished dance makers and dance companies.

Louise Barrett

Artistic Director / Choreographer / Performer

Louise trained at Bretton Hall and London Contemporary Dance School. Louise was Dance Coordinator for Prior Park College and Education Officer for Pegasus Theatre, Oxford. Louise founded Pretty Good Girl in 2003 and coninues to develop her work as a successful freelance artist alongside her Artistic Director role.

Louise is currently an Associate Artist for Take Art, Somerset and leads the Youth Dance provision for both the Merlin Theatre and Bridgwater Arts Centre. Louise also teaches at the University of Bath and delivers inset programmes for teachers and TA's across the county.

Lucy Heard

Performer

Lucy completed two years training at The Arts Educational School, Tring Park, followed by a year at Northern Ballet School, where she performed with Manchester City Ballet on numerous occasions. She has joined the company recently in July 2007.

Sharon Day

Performer

Sharon graduated from London Studio Centre in 2004 with a 2:1 degree in Theatre Dance. Since then she has worked on various projects throughout England. Among them an East Midlands project Classical Friction, a Gallery tour with Ascendance Rep (Leeds), an Indian Solo project (Bradford). In between performing Sharon has enjoyed teaching at schools in London and taking local classes for young children.

Katey Leader

Performer

Katey trained at London Contemporary Dance School and during which time worked with Trisha Brown Dance Company, Merce Cunningham Dance Company and performed in an original choreography by Henri Oguike. Katey joined the company in July 2005 and has performed in small projects, taught within schools on a regular basis and has taught on a number of educational workshops. She is also a freelance dance teacher throughout Somerset.

Georgina Pavey

Performer

Georgina graduated with a 2:1 Dance Theatre degree from Laban Dance Centre in 2006. During that time she worked with Retina Dance Company, and had the opportunity to perform in pieces choreographed by Stephanie Schober and Marina Collard. She has recently attended a workshop taken by Richard Alston and his company. In her own time Georgina teaches contemporary dance classes. Her latest project was performing as a backing dancer for a music artist through Riven Productions Ltd.

Sarah Peterkin

Take Art Consultation

Sarah has been involved as management advisory with PGG since its first beginnings. Her background is in Arts administration and Sarah is currently Director of the Live Programme for Take Art, Somerset. Take Art website
